About the Institute

History
Located in Dorchester County, Maryland, the Community Informatics Institute (CII) was incorporated in 2023. CII was granted 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in 2024.

Purpose
CII facilitates positive transformation through community informatics (the use of data, information, communication, and technology to enhance communities), prioritizing challenges in rural or otherwise disadvantaged areas.
